What changed, and when

This page exists for one reason: so you can see whether the product is still being worked on before you put a job’s records in it. Dated, newest first.

Millwright QC is new. Its first release was 12 August 2026 — the date below is the whole history, and there is no point pretending otherwise. It is built on a codebase that has been in use for longer under two sibling products, which is why it arrives with a job book, an audit, an auditor role and a form pack rather than as a blank slate. But as Millwright QC, it is a day old.

First release

Millwright QC is precision-maintenance document control for millwrights — installation, alignment, routine servicing and repair of heavy rotating equipment. It ships with 42 record sections, a turnover job book that compiles 39 of them, an independent audit, PDF drawing markup, CSV import and export, and a shared punch list.

Three records that refuse to be a checkbox

These are the reason this is not a generic form builder, and they are the parts worth reading before deciding whether it fits how you work:

Soft foot names which kind was found — parallel, angular, squishy or induced. Each is a different correction, and “soft foot: yes” cannot be acted on by whoever picks the job up next.
Shim records carry the piece count beside the total. Four 0.002 shims and one 0.008 shim are the same thickness and are not the same machine: a stack springs, and the alignment walks off within a week of running.
Thermal growth is its own record, nested under alignment, and it records where the target came from — OEM published, calculated, measured on a hot check, or assumed zero. A cold reading without the targets it was shot to proves nothing.

The alignment calculator

A reverse-dial solver, free and ungated at millwrightqc.com/alignment. Enter the readings, the bracket sag and the machine dimensions; it returns the shim and horizontal move at each foot, in words as well as signs.

It refuses to compute on readings that do not close, rather than answering anyway. Top plus bottom must equal left plus right once sag is taken out, and a solver that quietly does arithmetic on a typo trains people to ignore the check.

What it does not do is certify the sign convention for your indicators. It assumes a standard indicator reading positive when the plunger is depressed, zeroed at twelve o’clock. A reversed lever indicator or a mirrored bracket inverts every vertical answer, and the wrong answer looks entirely plausible — so prove it once on a machine you can measure with a rule.

Every sheet prints on exactly one page, which is checked by counting pages in the rendered PDF rather than by measuring the content — a landscape sheet whose minimum height outranks the print reset emits a blank second page that is invisible on screen.

The JSA asks about stored energy separately

Isolation point and stored energy are two blanks rather than one, because answering the first is routinely mistaken for having answered the second. A machine can be locked out, de-energised, and still hold a wound spring, a raised load, a charged accumulator, or a rotor that has not finished coasting.

What is not on this page

Nothing that has not shipped. There is no roadmap here, no “coming soon”, and no entry for work in progress. When something lands it gets a dated entry; until then it is not mentioned, because a changelog that lists intentions is a marketing page wearing a changelog’s clothes.
